A message from Rinad Beidas, Director, Penn Medicine Nudge Unit
I am thrilled to introduce Sri Adusumalli, MD, MSHP, MBMI, and Kit Delgado, MD, MS, as deputy directors of the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit. In these roles, Dr. Adusumalli and Dr. Delgado will develop and lead work that explores how Penn Medicine can leverage behavioral science and implementation science to drive change that improves health outcomes, enhances patient experience, and reduces the cost of care.
With expertise in fields including informatics, design thinking, data science, health care quality and safety, cardiology, emergency medicine, acute care, and epidemiology, Dr. Adusumalli and Dr. Delgado will enable our team to work in new clinical areas, increase our capacity to take on new projects, and extend the depth and reach of the Nudge Unit’s impact.
The Penn Medicine Nudge Unit is the world’s first behavioral design team embedded within a health system leveraging insights from behavioral science and implementation science to design and test approaches to make it easier for clinicians to make the right decisions toward better quality care and improved outcomes. Given that human behavior is the last mile challenge for almost every discovery in medicine, the Nudge Unit offers the primary vehicle through which to offer low-cost and scalable solutions, leveraging the electronic medical record and other technologies, in response to the problems that operational leaders face on a daily basis. The vision of the Nudge Unit is to achieve impact at scale. The addition of Dr. Adusumalli and Dr. Delgado will enable us to achieve our vision.
I encourage you to read more about our deputy directors below.
